森は海の恋人～The forest is the lover of the sea

 「森は海の恋人」
　初めてこの言葉を聞いた時、なんだかドキドキするような、優しい気持ちになりま
した。
　森と海は、遠く離れているように見えるけれど、実は深く、強く結ばれている恋人
同士のような関係なんだって。
　アースデイの今日、私たちは地球のことを考える日。
　森と海の特別な関係を知ると、地球がもっともっと大切に思えてくるはずです。
　森には、たくさんの木が生えています。雨が降ると、木の葉っぱや土が、雨水をゆっ
くりと受け止め、きれいな水に変えて、少しずつ川へと流します。
　この時、森の土は、海の赤ちゃんである小さなプランクトンたちが大好きな栄養分
を、雨水と一緒にそっと海へと送り出してくれるのです。
　海に住むプランクトンは、小さな小さな生き物だけど、たくさんの魚たちの食べ物
になる、とっても大切な存在。プランクトンがいっぱいいる海は、元気な魚がいっぱ
いの、にぎやかな海になるのです。
　つまり、森がきれいな水をゆっくりと海に送ってくれるおかげで、海は豊かな栄養
をもらい、たくさんの生き物が育つことができるのです。
　「森は、海の恋人」って、まるで、森がおいしいご飯を毎日海に届けてあげているみ
たいでしょう？
　でもね、もし森がなくなってしまうと、雨水は一気に流れ出し、海のプランクトン
に必要な栄養も届かなくなってしまいます。そうすると、海はだんだん元気がなくな
って、魚も減ってしまうかもしれません。
　逆に、海が汚れてしまうと、その汚れは雨や風に乗って森にも届き、森の木々を弱
らせてしまうこともあります。
　森と海は、お互いを大切に思い合う恋人のように、支え合って生きているのです。
　私たちがアースデイにできることは、森と海、そして地球全体のことを考え、小さ
なことから行動することです。
　例えば、森の木を大切にするために、紙を大切に使ったり、リサイクルをしたりす
ること。
　海を汚さないために、ゴミをきちんと分別して捨てたり、海に落ちているゴミを拾
ったりすること。
　私たちが優しくすることで、森も海も、もっともっと美しく、豊かな姿を見せてく
れるはずです。
　「森は海の恋人」。この素敵な言葉を胸に、私たちも地球にとっての優しい恋人にな
れたら、きっと、未来の地球は、笑顔でいっぱいになるでしょう。

When I first heard this phrase, I felt a kind of excitement and warmth.

The forest and the sea may seem far apart, but in fact they have a deep and strong bond like lovers.

Today is Earth Day, a day to think about the Earth.

Knowing the special relationship between the forest and the sea should make the Earth seem even more important.

Many trees grow in the forest. When it rains, the leaves and soil of the trees slowly catch the rainwater, turn it into clean water, and let it flow into the river little by little.

At this time, the forest soil gently sends nutrients that the tiny plankton, the babies of the sea, love, into the sea along with the rainwater.

The plankton that live in the sea are tiny creatures, but they are very important because they become food for many fish. An ocean full of plankton is a lively ocean full of healthy fish. In other words, thanks to the forests slowly sending clean water to the ocean, the ocean receives rich nutrients and many living things can grow.

When you say "forests are the ocean's lover," it's almost like the forests are delivering delicious food to the ocean every day, right?

But if the forests disappear, rainwater will run off all at once, and the nutrients necessary for the ocean's plankton will no longer reach it. This will cause the ocean to gradually lose vitality and the number of fish to decrease.

On the other hand, if the ocean becomes polluted, the pollution will reach the forests through rain and wind, and may weaken the trees in the forest.

The forest and the ocean live together, supporting each other like lovers who cherish each other.

What we can do on Earth Day is to think about the forests, the oceans, and the entire Earth, and take action starting from small things.

For example, to cherish the trees in the forests, we can use paper carefully and recycle.

To prevent the ocean from being polluted, we can properly separate and dispose of our garbage and pick up garbage that has fallen into the ocean.

If we are kind to the forests and oceans, they will become more and more beautiful and abundant. "The forests are the lovers of the ocean." If we take this wonderful saying to heart and become kind lovers of the Earth, I'm sure the Earth of the future will be filled with smiles.
